This piece takes a look back at the second annual Art on the Beach, a three-day event that ran July 16th, 17th and 18th, 2022. This summer’s event brought together community science and artistic expression to raise awareness of climate change impacts within the Cascade Head Biosphere, a UNESCO-designated marine reserve.
Art on the Beach 2022 was put on with the help of co-sponsor partners Chinook Winds Casino, The Elakha Alliance, the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Oregon State University. Guest artist, photographer and book author Josie Iselin was joined by co-sponsor of the Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative, photographer and artist Duncan Berry and artist Frank Boyden to highlight the vast kelp forests found along the California, Oregon and Washington coasts and the crucial role they play in marine ecosystems.
