Art on the Beach - Community Competition
The 4 CAST Project and its partners the City of Lincoln City and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians are celebrating July 4th 2023 with a giant 100 yard long “Interdependence Day” themed sand graphic along the shores of the Cascade Head Biosphere Region and Marine Reserve. This years image will be a Giant Pacific Octopus holding 8 images of our connection with the sea in its arms, scribed on the sands in front of the Chinook Winds Casino Resort starting at 8:00 AM. This year the Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative and its volunteer rakers will be offering a birds eye view of the Octopus using a drone that will be available on social media to anyone with a smart phone or tablet by reading a handy QR code or by logging onto CascadeHead.org.
Day 2 ~ Art on the Beach. Featured artists and volunteers rakers will be creating 100 yard long sand art depicting Oregon’s iconic Ochre Sea Stars. Information will be shared with the public revealing the key role these beautiful creatures play in the near shore habitats along our coastlines. Come make your own art in the sand!

Join us in celebrating the last week of the “Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea” and the launch of the 4CAST ~ WRACK LINE project on iNaturalist. Day will feature speakers on ocean currents and the biota of our coastal world that might be found in the wrack line, the high tide line of along the shore.
